The residents of this area have a strong connection to the military of this country. The original Military surveys of the area were given to high ranking officials who served in the Revolutionary War as gratitude for their service.
Before the establishment of Blanchester local soldiers were involved in the Indian Wars and The War of 1812. Since it's founding, residents have served in The Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and many other conflicts.
The Armory was the base for Blanchester's 147th National Guard units. The Armory is now the home for the Blanchester Area Historical Society.
