The Blanchester Oil Company was an oil company and auto dealership started by Norman J. Irvin in 1932. Ownership of the business was later taken over by his son Clayton K. "Bub" Irvin.
The building's art deco architecture and prominent location on Broadway at the end of Bourbon makes it a landmark of Blanchester.
