1927. WWI Encampment Marker. Blanchester.
This marker was erected in Snyder Park at the corner of Cherry St. and Wright St. in 1927. The marker commemorates the encampment of the 147th National Guard, Company B, 1st Regiment from July 15, 1917 to October 10, 1917 on that site.
The troops left Blanchester on the B&O train about noon on Tuesday October 09, 1917. They were headed for Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Alabama to receive training before joining the war in France.
The third photo is believed to be of the 147th at the depot. Confirmation needed.
