Collection: Businesses
For a small town Blanchester has had an amazing variety of businesses in it's history. Being a railroad stop for over 100 years the town had plenty of customers from the train passengers. Bars, restaurants, hotels even an Opera House that could seat 1,500 people.
The railroad also offered the ability for manufacturing businesses and grain dealers to ship there products. Dewey Bros., H.G. Bates Canning and multiple brick yards located near the tracks for easy access to the shipping capabilities offered by the trains.
Below is a link to a list of Blanchester businesses from 1832-2021. This list is a work in progress and is not complete. Most of the listings are from 1832 to the 1970’s right now but will eventually include modern businesses. There are over 600 businesses in the database to date. New information will be added periodically.
