Circa 1912. P.E. Snyder Hardware dumbwaiter pulley.
In the early 1900's, the horse and buggy was still the major form of transportation. Snyder’s Hardware sold alot of buggies. There are photo’s of buggies lined up all down South Broadway when their new shipments were assembled.
The buggies were assembled and then loaded onto an elevator. They were raised to the second floor showroom by a rope and pulley.
The is a photo of a large pulley in the building believed to be the one used on that elevator.
This photo was taken by Eric Heeg shortly before the entire block burned to the ground in 2020.
