In 1943, 10 year old Ruth Ella Rutledge (Walker) wrote this pen pal letter to a German student. We are assuming he is German because of his name.
This makes the letter even more interesting because the US was at war with Germany in WWII at that time.
Ruth was in the 4th grade. In the letter she describes life on the farm in Blanchester from the livestock to the crops. It's the perfect historic snapshot of that time in Blanchester from the eyes of a little girl.
