In 1873 there was a proposal to form a new county out of parts of Brown, Clermont, Clinton, Highland and Warren counties. Blanchester along with St. Martin's and Fayetteville were candidates for the county seat of this new county.
However, the formation of the new county was declined by the committee in charge of these matters and the new county was never formed.
